Smartphone self guided Photowalks

A smartphone self guided photowalk is a leisurely walk (can be in a city, village or your local neighborhood ) where participants take photos of interesting scenes, objects, or moments using their smartphones.

It’s relaxed, engaging, and accessible—even for the senior beginner!

In addition to the social aspect, these walks incorporate light exercise, which can improve physical health.

The act of walking, paired with the creative process of photography, keeps seniors physically active while also stimulating their cognitive functions.

Focusing on different subjects enhances mental agility and boosts overall brain health.

One of the primary benefits of smartphone photowalks is the opportunity for social interaction.

These walks help combat loneliness and provide a sense of community.

They also offer a chance to engage with others who share an interest in photography, fostering connections through shared experiences.

  • 9 in 10 (91%) of Brits believe that spending time outdoors has a positive impact on their wellbeing
  • Nearly half (49%) say photographing the outdoors continues the feel-good feeling, with smartphones facilitating more picture-taking
  • Nearly a third (31%) say taking photos helps them manage stress and anxiety

Its a positive emotion rooted in the realisation of having done something worthwhile and difficult.

Smartphone photo walks provide a valuable expressive outlet.

Elderly individuals can use their photography to capture moments that reflect their personal interests, allowing them to share their unique perspectives with others.

The creative process also offers a way for seniors to explore their artistic side, enhancing their sense of accomplishment.
